DIY Discovery Bottles-Science Fun
My discovery bottles encourage children to develop their observational skills, predictability, scientific concepts and thinking skills. When my children are given the opportunity to play with these bottles not only can they be educational but they can be fun for them as well. These bottles are recommended for children over the age of three and the lids must be glued closed with crazy glue.
Below you will be able to see just what I used in my DIY Discovery Bottles as well as a video and a list of ideas for more discovery bottles.
I used:
*Oil mixed with sports beads to give the slow moving effect
*Water with a touch of soap. Then I added counting bears so it bubbles when they shake the bottle
*Water with a touch bleach. Then I added foam shapes so they could watch the shapes float back to the top.
* Noodles for shaking and noise making
*Spice mix and more sport beads for hunting or and eye spy game
then I added sand by it’s self and sand with glitter in a bunch of bottles. Inside these bottles I put theme buttons that I bought from Michaels Crafts. They had sport buttons, car buttons, nurse buttons, Animal buttons, fast food buttons and so many others to choose from so I bought a ton. Every bottle has a different theme inside. However, if you plan on trying this you may want to take a bottle cap with you so you can make sure you buy the buttons that will fit inside each bottle easily.
I then took some left over items and added them to the bottles too.
I used:
*Fuzzy yarn
*Red and blue feathers (Comparing)
*Cotton
*Mini clothes pins , foam clothing and paperclip hangers
*Mini sewing kit
*Cut material
* Odd items mixed with chalk
After that I made some more using
*Alphabet tape
*USA Money
*Letter beads in sand and alone
So as if that wasn’t enough I went back to the craft store and I bought mini wooden shapes and added them too.
